2025

santhal pargan

This photographic series documents the environments and villages of the Santhali people in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
Created as part of my final year project at LASALLE College of the Arts, titled Eternal Ink, this series is an attempt to visually preserve a fading cultural landscape. I travelled to these villages in search of tattoo motifs, their meanings, and the stories behind them. What I found was more than symbols it was a fragile yet powerful tapestry of memory, pride, silence, and survival.

This body of work became a way to build an ongoing record, to retain cultural memory, and to reflect on what remains as traditions quietly slip away
